Sambar Powder

Description:

    Sambar powder is used for preparation of Sambar.

Ingredients:

    Curry Leaves : 10gms
    Red Chilies : 15gms
    Oil : 2 Spoons
    Coriander seeds : 50gms (Dhaniyalu)
    Cumin Seeds : 5gms (Jeelakarra)
    Mustard : 5gms (Avaalu)
    Fenugreek : 3gms (Menthulu)
    Black Pepper : 5gms (Miriyalu)
    Red Gram : 10gms (Kandhi pappu)
    Bengal Gram : 20gms (Senaga pappu)
    Black Gram/ Urad Dal : 10gms (Minappappu)
    Cloves : 2 (Lavangam)
    Turmeric powder : 1¼ Spoon (Pasupu)

Method of Preparation:

  1. Fry Curry Leaves, Red chilies in Oil and keep aside.
  2. Fry Coriander seeds, Cumin seeds, Mustard, Fenugreek, Black Pepper, Red Gram, Bengal Gram, Black Gram, Cloves and Tumeric Powder with remaining oil present in the tava.
  3. Mix and grind all fried ingredients to a fine powder in Mixer.
  4. Store in an airtight container.
