Drumstick Pickle

Ingredients:

    Drumstick : ½ Kg (Mulagakaya)
    Chilly Powder : 100 gms
    Salt : 100 gms
    Oil : 200 gms
    Urad Dal : 50 gms (Minappappu)
    Jeera : 50 gms
    Garlic : 100 gms
    Tamarind : 200 gms
    Channa Dal : 50 gms (Senaga Pappu)
    Mustard : 50 gms (Avaalu)
    Turmeric Powder : 2 spoons
    Curry Leaves : 10-20 leaves(as required)

Method of Preparation:

  1. Clean Drumstick and cut it into pieces.
  2. Mix 35 gms of Salt, Turmeric powder to Drumstick pieces in a bowl and cover with lid. Keep aside for 2 days.
  3. In the third day, take water from the Drumstick pieces bowl and soak the Tamarind in that water.
  4. Grind the Garlic and keep aside.
  5. Grind the remaining Salt, Chilly Powder, soaked Tamarind Paste and keep aside.
  6. Heat oil in tava, add mustards, Channa Dal, Urad dal, Jeera and Curry Leaves.
  7. After above talimpu is cooled, add Garlic paste, Mixture paste (grind paste of Salt, Chilly powder and soaked Tamarind) and Drumstick pieces and mix it well.
  8. Wait for 2 days and Ready…to EAT.
